Learning a language with a blog

Hello bloggers!

Today I will write about doing a blog in English IV class.

First, I would like to say that the blog method is very nice, really is useful for me because I learn since my own method. Write about anything, search about the words I don’t understand or ask to the teacher about it, definitely is a good way for learning English (and any language I think). When I write, I try to think completely in English, imagine I talking with other classmate about I write it, this is the best method I think. For start to write about anything first I open Microsoft Word in the computer, this way is useful for me for learn and correct little things about grammatical forms, for example. Definitely, I think is the best method for learn to write about a topic, for to work our mind and think in English, because normally is very difficult do it speaking with other person and the nerves a lot of time play a bad role in this situation.

I try to comment my blog and other classmates blogs every Thursday in class or since my home like today, because I’m sick. To comment others blogs and read it, is useful too because you can learn with the mistakes and corrects answers of your classmate. In my posts, I try to insert a little piece of humor, sometimes my blogs are not serious lol.

I enjoy reading Sebastian Blog because he write about interesting things and sometime are things that I don’t know, so definitely is good read him.

My favorite post was the topic “Something special I would like to own”, because you could imagine all the possibilities and write about anything you want. I write, for example, about a future travel machine, really I would like it.

What I Did Today (December 10th).

Like Simon said, this day was some strange for us. Really, the guy must to go to the dentist was me. December 10^th was a normal day for me in begin, I wake up early and I come to the correct hour to University. But during the class, my dentist inform me about the advance for my hour, so I explain to Simon about my situation. After the first class block, Simon informed us about the class will finished early, well, you can imagine our happiness.

After that, I went to my dentist to do my treatment and I decided go to my home instead of go to my afternoon class: Socio-Environmental Conflicts. Really I’m a slack guy, I recognize that. I’m like a big Snorlax in my bed and only stand up in cases very necessaries. Because of this, I be in danger to fail my course about English IV, thanks Simon for forgive me, lol.

A party or celebration

Today I will write about a party I enjoyed. In my life I went to a lot of parties, I singed Happy Birthday! I drank since milk in my infancy to alcohol in my youth, but today I’m stopped a little because I’m an old guy and my body not resist the same. I remember a party in my previous university, “pedagogico” university.

We went to a field visit to San Cristobal Hill, with my friends and teachers in the Biogeography class. We was all day in this field visit and these day was a big party in the campus. I don’t remember why this celebration was, I think that the University Anniversary. Well, we come to the campus to seven o’clock during the afternoon, so when we come all the people was drunk and the party was a chaos, in the grass the people dancing and the different Cumbia bands playing them music and everyone were crazy. In this context we come since the field visit, very tired and with the wish to sleep in our bed, in our home.

But when we saw our different friends on the party, it motive us and we dance a lot of sings about Combo Tortuga, Chico Trujillo and Banda del Waite bands (a little band that in these time only was starting in these Cumbia music world). So we had fun because the music was so nice and I like the groups that played these day. Finally I woke up in the History lounge, covered with a Rifa Cardboard. 

A Career Subject

Today I will write about a subject of my career, especially about my favorite subject or my favorite topic in Geography.

Definitely the subject approved until now has been Cultural Geography and right now Social Geography, is the topic that most I like it. Study de society and it distribution in the space is so interesting, in addition the teachers are so egghead and they know everything about them classes, these teachers that I meet are Enrique Aliste and Michael Lukas. In this subject I learnt about culture, history, philosophy, geography, economy, therefore this topic are interdisciplinary in my career. I learnt the reason because the people live in certain places and why not in other places. I learnt about what is Culture and how is represented in the space.

I like this subject because is very interesting and is an interdisciplinary subject, so you can learn about a lot of things, you can learn about the world cultures and understand different societies and it features. One of thing that I dislike this course is about the difficult theories of high geographers teach, I think that this theories must be more simple because the people that read and try understand it, not always are genius or definitely don’t learn so fast, like my situation. So if you want to teach your theory, please explain in simple words.

Finally, exist a subject that I don’t study yet. Is about Rural Geography, I like because I lived a lot of time in countryside and I’m interested on this topic.

A Special Place

Today I will write about my special place in Santiago, mmm really I don’t know if I have some special place, mainly thinking about Santiago Center because I don’t like this city, my special place would be in the countryside or something else.

But, if the topic today is about Santiago as city, I tell you that I like too much Lastarria district, I know that is similar to European style, but I like this place because is beautiful, with its old buildings and its creepers in every single them. I love this place because had a lot of food shopping that I like too much, like Hogs, Buffalo Waffles (You can eat since 2000 chilean pesos a sweet waffle and it’s so big, we must take advantage of this offers before disappear them!), I like too much “Emporio la Rosa” ice cream store because it offer you a lot of flavor types.

I try to go to this place one time to week because is so close to our university, for arrive it, you must to go to Universidad Católica METRO and then go through Alameda Avenue to the north face, then you walk one minute to the north (you can visit Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center too). If you exhausted after a bad day, you can sit in the Forestal Park, a quiet place to the north of this special place, it is really good!

The last time I went to this place is about two weeks with my girlfriend, before it I went with friends and I eat a big sweet waffle, my favorite!

Something special I would like to own

Today I will write about something special I would like to own in my life. So, really is a difficult topic, because maybe I never thought about it.

Well, I would like to own a machine for travel through the time. Yes! Like the Doc and Marty McFly, I would use this machine for to go to the future and meet all the reality of that time. Also I can use this machine for come back to the past and to do the correct things in my life, correct the mistakes and infinite things that I can’t imagine right now.

Simply imagine all the possibilities about to own a future machine, you could travel to the medieval age, or the dinosaur age and meet them. Definitely it would be the best invention on the world, why no one is able to make this machine? For the love of Alá :(

Hi my friends, today was today (T) I tell you about a person that expected(T) to meet someday. Really, exist two persons I'd like (WE) to meet, one they (WF) is Marcelo Bielsa. Why Bielsa? Because is a football coach most important [WO] in the football contemporary [WO], is (WW) changed the form of understand, watch and practice football with your (WW) doctrine, called “Bielsismo”. Also, is more (WF) influential in very (WW) football coach of the teams most powerful [WO] in the world, how (WF) Guardiola, Simeone and Sampaoli. In simply (WF) words, Bielsa is a master, (ˆ) know very, but very much or football, although he says “I don’t know very much”, but this is false, in my opinion. I fell (SP), that take (WW)  a chance for meet to Bielsa, I learn (T) a lot of football, and obviously (ˆ)ask for (SP) why take some decisions of some matches(?), and (ˆ) anecdote that was happened in the different teams what (SP) he manage. Although Bielsa is not a person that most admire, I don’t (ˆ) a dude that be a most interesting person what expected meet (WE). 

               

The other persons I want to meet was (T) George Harrison, the guitarist of The Beatles (WO). Unfortunately, he pass away in 2001. I'd like to meet not only for your (WW) music, that is fantastic, but the personality and aspect for (WW) his life is more (WE) interesting and very inspirational. He was meet how (WW) the “quiet Beatle” and always was undervaluing, but your (WW) talent is biggest, how (WW) to show in the first album to launch. Be to ask for the inspiration for created (WE) his songs how (WW) “My sweet Lord (SP), “While my Guitar gently Weeps” or “Something”, my favorite song, and also anecdote (ˆ) of the part he stay in the most important band in the history, and of (WE) his soloist career, how (WW) was event more interesting to me (WE), how (WW) The Concert for Bangladesh, the Dark Horse tour and the super band Traveling Wilburys (WO). George is a legend for the music, lend (T) a legacy very important (WO) and style a life admirably (WE).

Someone I would like to meet

Today I will write about someone I would like to meet. This is a serious topic, because it can be since my platonic love (ups), as far as my celebrity idol.

Not, really I’ve been a fan of Lionel Messi since I was about 15 years old. ‘Lio Messi’ is the best football player on the history of this sport. He play in “F.C. Barcelona” in Forward Position and every season he stand out in his team, he always make a lot of goals.

I’m so interesting in this person because I love football and he is the best on the world. So is logic that I would like to meet him. In addition, he is a modest person, he is like a boy, play football because he love it, and only think in this sport. I wish meet him and meet the entire Barcelona Team, to go to Champions League match in Europe and see to play all high-players.

If I meet him, I would like to talk about football, obviously, and about his history, how he was when he was a child, and how difficult is to be the best football player on the world. I would like to walk with him, and maybe play with him (although he will humiliate me). But all this things would be wonderful if I meet him sometime.

Finally, like I say before, I admire him because is unrivalled, is the best and I would like to see his feet fast movements with the ball, and his dribbles, etc. Definitely I would like to learn how to play better the football game. 

A Restaurant

Today I will write about something so delicious, well, that is not beer, it is not love, is the food!! And In this case, I will write about my favorite restaurant that I go frequently to eat sushi. I like it because is a chip restaurant, especially in the lunch time, for example the lunch menu has a cost of 5400 chilean pesos, with dessert and soda, all included. This restaurant is named “Too Much” and sells beer, other lunches and in general Japanese food. It is located in Monjitas street #640 in the center of Santiago.

The layout of the restaurant is very simple, is a small restaurant with subway, white tables and decorated with red and black color things. This store saves me a lot of times when I dead for sushi food and in comparison with other sushi restaurants, is very chip. The last time that I went was three weeks ago, with my girlfriend.

However when I’m millionaire (only a little times, really), I love to go to Baires Restaurant, other Restaurant but so expensive, located in Brasil district.

When I have other cravings (yes, apparently I’m pregnant), like fried potatoes, or better that this, Chorrillana; I love to go to any restaurant or “picada” that sells me a delicious Chorrillana. But again, when I’m millionaire (ok, never), I love to go to Saint Patrick Restaurant, located in Brasil District too and decorated with things related with sports like Rugby. In this case, the last time that I went was the past year and I eat a giant Chorrillana (I’m a pig).

                                                       

A concert

In this cold day I will write about something that I don’t have a lot of experiences, my knowledge about the concerts is poor, because I never went to a concert until the year 2013 (yes, I was a bored person, maybe today I maintain this hahah).

Well, then today I will write about the concert I went in June of 2013 with my girlfriend to see Jorge Drexler in Teatro Caupolican. That was my first concert, so I had no idea about the tickets sale, the place that I went, only I knew about the singer, obviously.

I liked very much the concert especially the company hahaha. That was my first concert and always the first experience in something is amazing, so this case was not the exception.

In a future, I would like to go to a concert about my favorite’s music bands, for example maybe one of my dream is to see Blink 182 or Sum 41 in Chile. I know were popular bands in the 90’ but until today I love it. The past year in Australia there was a festival with almost all the bands I love, but the tickets for travel through the world and assist to this events are so expensive, a lot of money that I don’t have. Because of this, I wait for to work and take the cash for achieve my dream. I’m sure that when I have the enough money for this concerts, I will go to all the bands I love (if they keep singing, of course… please don’t die L )

A good trip (bad really)

Hi bloggers! Like you know, I study Geography and in this career is necessary go to field trips to different places for study the physical and human geography of Chile.

Well, in this post I will write about a field trip I went during my career. The field trip to Codegua, in Libertador Bernardo O´higgins Region was our first journey are definitely the best! (Worst really) until now. We went with Pablo Sarricolea and our loved (hated really) teacher Rodrigo Moreno. We visited different communes of the region like San Francisco de Mostazal and finally Codegua, two bored places and I complain every hour, we climbed a hill since we saw Graneros and all the landscape. Was the worst field trip until now, in fact I excuse from the next trip to the same place (really I maintained sleep in my bed). Imagine this trip, almost twelve hours and a little of this in the land, the rest of time we traveled in the bus, we slept and we bored… finally we died

Definitely I don’t enjoyed this journey but be used for learn about a neighbor region and for to know about the bored trips and our darling teacher Moreno. 

My Favorite Geography Subject

Hi everyone, this is my second semester on English class, so I want to start very good. Today I will write about my favorite geography subject, of course! Because I study geography and this preference is very important for my future as geographer, for my specialization too.

Generally, in the school teach us only the physical geography, like the importance of the Andes Mountain Chain or the Chilean Regions, all of this very important too but the Human Geography also. When I was in UMCE studying History and Geography, I understood this.

So my favorite geography subject is all related with Human Geography like Social and Cultural Geography, the Demography too, studies of Territory Conflicts (for example, the Mapuche Conflict), Urban and Rural studies but always related with Human Subjects. Actually I had only one: Cultural Geography with the teacher Enrique Aliste in the previous semester.

I love Cultural Geography because is related with a lot of disciplines like Anthropology, Sociology or History that I like so much. The studies about population and it relation with the space is so interesting. In addition is a low studied subject since Geography so I would like investigate much more in that.

Nevertheless, there are other subjects that I would like to study like Rural Geography but we don’t study yet. I live my childhood in the countryside and I would like to know it history and complexity.

Until now, I discovered the importance of Human Subjects in the Geography, the discipline is not only physical but a mixture of this two subjects and is very important to understand it relation and reciprocity.

A Walk

Hi everybody, today I’ll write about a walk that I did I would like to do again.

Well, if I must choose a place that I walked, I would choose the Quitor Pucara in San Pedro de Atacama. With my girlfriend I travelled to this place and in one of our trips we went to Quitor Pucara to some kilometers of distance, but only walking because buses and tours not travelled to these place.

So, it was an amazing walk because the landscape are so beautiful, the mud buildings in San Pedro is very old and I like too much. In addition, we seen a flock of sheep with a man that ordered with dogs! I only seen something like this in the T.V. but not in person. So after that, a sand whirlwind appeared and trapped me! (If I see you the true, the whirlwind was so small), and I walked in this direction, and other direction, and other and other again and the sand whirlwind follow me like an animal with it prey –ok, I’m exaggerating-, but in this moment I was really desperate because I did can’t breathe, but finally I survived.

Yes, my adventure is not really an adventure but I liked too much and I laughed too much too, well, the Quitor Pucara is amazing, climb this place is very cool and the history hidden in it walls is so interesting and show you the natives fortress! The travel is so tiring but be worth the effort.

I would like to do it again because I love the entire landscape of San Pedro and go to this place means go across all the others beautiful places. But I going to the Quitor Pucara again because I would like climb to the fortress peak and only close my eyes and enjoy the pure air of San Pedro –but please, without sands whirwind-.

A Job I would like to do

Well, hello bloggers, in this cold Wednesday I’ll write about a job I would like to do.

In my life, I did a lot of little jobs but nothing important, principally for my holyday’s money: I worked in a store house, an easy job for one month for my holydays too. Today I must say you that my dreamy job is be the best geographer on the world, visit and work in a lot of places, know about all physical and social things on the world, etc. But today I’ll focus in my dreamy job when I was a boy.

Yes! Because be geographer is so bored, as well as be an office worker or something else. When I was a little boy, my dreamy work was be an ambulance. Okay, you will say me: That is not a work! Yes, but was my dream when I was a child. Be the best ambulance on the world and save lives every places.

No, seriously a job I would like to do is a traveler guy, and visit every places on the world but not being a geographer, only be a reporter or something else and that some TV show or Magazine order me travel around the world making articles of China, Thailand, India, etc. cultures. I would like to do this job because exist a lot of places and cultures to meet in this life and I want to know every this things. For this job, you need the contacts for a sponsor that finance your travels, and the energy for go across every places (but above everything, you need the money). I would be good this job because I want this job with my all energy and my geographer knowledge help me to know about different landscape and cultures. My inspiration is someone like Ricardo Astorga because he has the contacts, the energy and the money to finance his travels for the world, really I would like to do similar to him.

A Country I would like to visit

Hi everyone!

Today I’ll write about a country that I would like to visit, I would like to visit all countries around the world, and travel through every places and landscapes. But if you ask me about only one country, in my case I will say you: I would like to visit a continent in general: Asia.

Yes! Because in Asia you can find different cultures, Oriental cultures so different to our culture. Their traditions, practices and faiths really fascinate me, I would like to visit a country like China or Thailand: It Buda temples are amazing and I love it. Although, Asian people are so different physically to us.

I would to go to my girlfriend and, maybe, some friends. The experiences and places that I will see, it must necessarily share with others peoples, but if I have the opportunity to go, alone, I would to go too.

In China or Thailand, I would like to visit the Buda temples and it cities; The Big Chinese Wall, Huang Hills, The Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors, in China; and Khao Yai National Park, Jim Thompson House, The Big Bangkok Palace and others places, in Thailand. Probably I forget a lot of places and landscapes, but if I go, obviously I don’t forget none of this.

A piece of Art

Today I will talk about a piece of art. Really I don’t like so much the Art, much less the paint, but during my life I seen various pieces of arts that I loved it. For example, the next painting definitely fill all my mind, broke my heart and fixed it again and again, suddenly I carried to a parallel dimension, to a unknown world, the world of the best paintings.

The Ecce Homo

A lot of people will think about this painting is an imitation of Mona Lisa, really I don’t think so, the perfection of lines, the interesting way of looking you like a face without emotions. This piece of art was created by “Doña Cecilia”, a great painter, I don’t know too much information about this woman, but really I dream with meet her, an example to follow. I saw this painting two years ago in the TV, since that moment, my life changed, the next mission of my life is see it with my own eyes. This painting is impossible to improve, like you can see, exist a lot of imitation of this piece of art, but nothing like the original:

My Free Post

Today is the free post day! And really I don’t know what will be my topic, so I will explain you about how was born my blog and why it’s named “Soso English”.

The story begin in my high school, in my second year. I was the new boy in the school and my first friend was a guy named Ignacio. He was a joker, so began disturb me because my voice was similar to Huaso Chileno –although thinking it better, really my voice in these age was like this-. A day, I asked to Ignacio why he disturb me with Huaso, he explained me and I replied him: “Bullsh%$! My voice is not like this!” but just in that moment my voice sounded identical to a Huaso, so finally since that day I surrounded and everybody said me Huaso.

With the time, this nickname changed to Sohua –contrary to the word H U A S O-, or Sowa, and some years after, this nickname changed again to So-So. Today, all my high school say me “Soso”, and I express it in my blog remembering the old moments –in addition, my worst subject in the high school was English, so is almost a contradiction to say “Soso English”, lol-. 

Technology

Today I will write about my favorite piece of technology: this is the computer.

Yes, the computer has followed me since the infancy and adolescence because in this period I liked the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) and I was addicted to this games (nerd period). I had my first personal computer to 10 years old, but I bought my first notebook in 2011 for the university’s works.

Like I said, I used the computer for playing games when I was a children and an adolescent, but today been an university guy I use my notebook for works principally, for to read, see my favorite TV series and in my free times I’m still play some PC games.

I like the computer because is multifunctional, you can do everything you want: see movies, play games, make videos, visit social networks trough internet, etc. And this kind of technologies will progress for very much time, prepare for do anything you want.

The place that I would like to visit is the Kew Gardens. This place are situated next to the river Thames, 10 miles west of central London. For to get here by London Underground, you must arrive to Kew Gardens Station that is in zone 3. If you want get here by train, you must take services from Waterloo, via Vauxhall and Clapham Junction, stop at Kew Bridge Station because it is 800 meters from the Elizabeth Gate entrance to the Gardens via Kew Bridge.

The ticket’s price is, for adult, 15 pounds in standard price, but if you want give a donation, the price climb up to 16.50 pounds. If you are a student, the standard price is 14 pounds and with donation is 15.50 pounds.

In this place, you can take a different kinds of tours for explorer the amazing landscape like; self-services restaurants and cafes within the Gardens; to take a leisurely and informative trip around the Gardens, etc.

I would like to visit this place because the gardens are very beautiful and in Chile is nothing like this. Clearly Parque Ohiggins is not seem.

My favorite beach

Today I would like talk you about the beaches, I know its sound like a “bitches”, but it sense is so far away of to be the same haha. I love beaches because are landscapes very quiet, perfect for rest a long time.

Chile is a country with a lot of beaches to the long of its territory, so is very difficult think about what is the most I like. If you keep going ask me, I say: I love “Punta de Tralca” beach. I love it because is a very calm place, especially in low rates months. I would like to go right now! Punta de Tralca is in Valparaiso region, on the central coast of Chile, if you want to go, you can take a bus from Santiago to El Quisco and take down in the stone stop of Punta de Tralca, after this you can go in west direction for arrive to the beach. When I go with my girlfriend, we just rest for a long time because is a family beach, after this we can swim in the sea.

I like this spaces because are quiet places where you can take a tanned skin, rest, think, have fun, eat traditional food of the beach like Palmeras, etc. 

What i would like to learn to do

Today i’ll write about something i would like to learn to do. The first thing that appears in my mind is to learn some musical instrument, nevertheless always I’ll like to learn is to draw. Yes! But not to draw ugly pictures, I would like to draw beautiful because is really cool represent the reality through points, lines and figures, to make my own creation about the things I see everyday everywhere. So I would like to draw amazing pictures that everyone admires it.  

When I was just a kid with six years old, I tried drawing my favorite TV animation: Pokemon. I tried drawing the 150 Pokemon, but was very difficult for me (nevertheless not for my older brother), then I had an idea: in my birthday my family gave me a great book for to draw, so I request to my brother a exchange, my book for his Pokemon draws. After this, I painted the 150 pokemon and I was really happy, but my draws never improve.

Maybe if that time I wouldn’t surrender, I would learn to draw really well, but never was my real dream because I wouldn´t like to work in this area, so was just a hobby, a great hobby.

Today i'll write about my favorite photograph that i was took in San Pedro de Atacama in 2013.

I went about my holidays to San Pedro de Atacama in 2013 with my girlfriend, she have an amazing photographs camera and we tooked a lot of pictures to landscape: the salt desert, mountains, the high Andean plateau and the lakes.

My favorite photograph was about Valle de la Luna, located to ten minutes on car far away San Pedro, we tooked a tour to this place and we saw the twilight there. 

I like this picture because show an amazing landscape about desert of salt and i like the mountains, the place's morphology, the white and brown colors together everywhere. On the sunset this landscape change to reddish color and is so beautiful, i can´t taked a photograph about it because the sight on night is not very well, on internet exist a lot of pictures about it but the reality is always better than a picture, nevertheless is my favorite photograph because represent an amazing travel and show a beautiful our loved north of Chile landscape. If you want to see it, is a 100% recommendable place to visit. 

My first day at univesity

Hello!
Today i'll write about my first day in the university. This happenned in 2011 (four years ago). two years after my graduation school in 2009.
This day was really amazing, I was a little nervous because i seen the university so big with a lot of people. First i went to the history department (i studied History and Geography in UMCE), and i searched my classmates. When i found them, i felt so fine and maked some friends. first i met a guy called Alexis, he was very fat and pleasant man that is my friend until now.
I liked the old university buildings and it yellow color, the soccer field is so big and i liked very much too in addition with the grass and trees that covered all university. A little thing i didn't liked, one of it was the "capucha" guys, they throw rocks and incendiary items to cops, the trees and grass burned sometimes and this can't happenned according to me.
This day was a amazing experience because is unique in the life and i can say that because my first day in Universidad de Chile was not the same sensation.

My best holiday in Perú

Today i'm going to talk about my best holiday's travel that i have ever had and it happenned in this year 2015 (in fact, is the reason because this is my first and no my fourth post). This travel was to Perú and all its beachs on the summer. My travel´s partner was my girldfriend, her name is Constanza and we always travel in our holidays. 

First we flew to Arica during the night with a duration of 3 hours about. In the morning we took a bus to Tacna with 2000 chilean pesos, i don´t liked this city because is very dirty but this is a zone without import duties, so the prices of commodities is very low. After we took a bus to Arequipa with 20 soles per person (4.000 chilean pesos per person about). Arequipa is so beautiful because its old buildings in the principal square and the food is very cheap, we took the city tour all the morning and the second day we took the bus to Ica during the night and its beachs. In Ica we stayed in a cheap hostel (50 soles the matrimonial room), The fourth day we took a bus in the morning to Lima, the Perú Capital. Lima is so big, we stayed in Miraflores district (the tourist place for excellence in this city), this district is a VIP place because is so expensive but beautiful and its residents are high social classe. Then the sixth day we took a bus to Máncora Port (16 travel's hours, so tire). The Máncora beach is so beautiful with clean waters and too much partys in the night. We stayed here five days and visited Manglares of Puerto Pizarro and the crocodriles zoo. 

In total we have 20 days in Perú, we visited Trujillo too and the back travel was so tire with very much hours of bus travel. 

This is my best holiday because Perú is so cheap and a beautiful place to visit, its people is so nice and its buildings represent the city that was in the colonial ages.
